Why Fire TV users install SmartTube
The stock YouTube app on Fire TV shows more ads and fewer quality controls. SmartTube adds SponsorBlock, manual 4K selection, and faster browsing with the Fire remote.
Allow unknown sources on Fire TV
Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore. Open Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options. Turn on Apps from Unknown Sources for Downloader. If Developer options is hidden, tap the Fire TV build number seven times.
Install the APK with Downloader
- Open Downloader Launch the app and allow storage access when asked.
- Enter the URL Copy the file link from the download page after the timer unlocks, or download on a phone and move the APK.
- Install When the download finishes, tap Install and wait for verification.
- Clean up Delete the APK afterward to free space on 8 GB sticks.
USB install option
Fire TV Stick 4K models with USB OTG can install from a thumb drive. Copy SmartTube_stable_32.56_universal.apk on a PC, plug the drive into an OTG adapter, and open the file with a file manager.
Fire TV troubleshooting
If SmartTube will not open after an Amazon system update, reinstall the latest stable APK. Network errors in Downloader usually mean you need to paste the link again. Restart the stick if the remote feels sluggish during 4K playback.
